The Geeky: Sailor Moon Crystal is US Bound!?

Why Hello There!
…You guys. I have a serious problem. I AM OBSESSED WITH SAILOR MOON. In the 15 years I’ve been a fan, I feel that me having money and the gracious amount of attention span has encouraged me to bring back ALL of the childhood memories. It’s gotten so bad that I even bought the omnibus versions of Cardcaptor Sakura. SOMEONE STOP ME. Actually, please don’t. I’m having way too much fun.

ANYWAYS, there’s a lot of news in regards to Sailor Moon Crystal that I thought I’d update you on what we have thus far since my last post on the subject! So, why don’t we start?
sailor moon news 2Release News:

  • Sailor Moon Crystal is set to Debut on July 5, 2014 7PM JST (Japan Standard Time). This means it will debut at 6AM US EST.
  • There will be 26 episodes in the season with a new episode aired every other Saturday.

  • Viz Media has acquired full Sailor Moon rights for the original Sailor Moon anime as well as Sailor Moon Crystal.
  • The original series with original Japanese Dub is currently available to watch on Neon Alley and Hulu Plus. 2 New Episodes will be available Every Monday.

English Dub News:

  • Viz Media has announced that they are going to release a brand new English dub of the original series with an all new cast.
  • The cast will be announced on July 5th at Anime Expo.
  • The English dub cast has been personally chosen by Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon.

DVD/Blu-Ray Release News:

  • Along with a new English cast, Viz Media announced that they will be releasing the original series on DVD/Blu-Ray in the Fall of 2014.
  • This will include the English Dub and original Japanese Dub.
  • No current release date, but more information will be available during the Anime Expo panel.
  • This will include all 200 episodes and all 5 seasons: Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon Super S, and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars.
  • The series will be Uncut and Remastered just as they aired in Japan. They are also Uncensored.

That’s pretty much the technical news until July 5th! Since my last post, they have revealed the inner senshi character profiles which included a look at the animation…
sailor moon animationIf you compared this to the Original series, this is incredibly different! I remember saying that I wanted the animation to resemble that of the original series, but I can see why they went this route. If you think about it, these profiles closely resemble that of the manga but also resemble a lot of today’s modern anime. The original series was made in 1992+, so they art style was a lot more rounder and shoujo animes had a certain look to them. Crystal’s art style is a bit more detailed and has a sharper look to it. I was shocked at first, but looking at it now…I actually quite like it! (Especially Usagi’s hair! Holy crap you guys.)

I already expressed my wants from the new series…BUT I have a few more:

Sailor Moon Crystal Expectations:

  • Mamoru with Glasses. PLEASE.
  • Accurate Ages! (Usagi is 14 & Mamoru is 17 in the Manga.)
  • Meaningful Filler Episodes if Necessary.
  • Accurate Depiction of Usagi & Mamoru’s Relationship.
  • Pea Green Jacket & Lavender Pants for Mamoru.

I think my list is rather reasonable…

Anyways, that is it for tonight! It’s almost MIDNIGHT, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TIME!? I hope all you Moonies found this helpful! I know there’s a lot of Sailor Moon merchandise being released as well and there is a helpful website for that: SailorMoonCollectibles.Com! Literally, there’s a list of all the Japanese releases and what websites ship the items internationally! That’s how I managed to purchase the Japanese Complete Edition of the SM Manga.

I’m excited to hear what you all have to say! If you have any expectations, opinions, thoughts, or anything dealing with Sailor Moon Crystal, leave a comment down below!! If you’d like to suggest ideas for future posts, please click on the Contact Button above!

With all of that said, have a fantastic rest of the week everyone! I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day as I did, stay safe and sound, and as always…

Getting Tattoo’d at Time-Honored Tattoo

Hello Everybody!
Happy Summer Semester. Yep, I’m back in classes and I am far from excited though I only have a semester after this until I graduate. Finally. I must admit however that I am enjoy feeling and looking productive. In other news, it’s been one crazy week! I am finally over this coughing that I’ve had since last week. Lots of NyQuil and DayQuil and sleep was necessary. I also managed to beat Pokemon Y in 28 hours which is all time record for me when it comes to Pokemon games. I feel like the very best that no one ever was…

Moving on, if you couldn’t tell by the title already: I GOT MY THIRD TATTOO!

Actually, if you were on any of my social media accounts you probably already knew that. Anyways, remember how I did that post on Proper Tattoo Care? Well, I went ahead and got that third tattoo I talked about! And I’m going to share my experience with you…but this post will probably be mostly pictures just in case!
getting tattoodLast Monday I decided to finally set up an appointment for my third tattoo. I knew exactly what I wanted and where I wanted it. It was Sailor Moon on my shoulder. If you haven’t already noticed; Sailor Moon is something I love and hold dearly to my heart. I’ve been a fan since I was little (15 years!) and I wanted to have a lifetime reminder of the show and manga that changed my life and still makes an incredible impression on me. I mean, my wedding dress was chosen because my brother said it looks like a Sailor Moon dress! So, I decided upon Princess Serenity sitting with Luna in front of a crescent moon.
outside tattooThe original plan was to only set up an appointment. I never did a walk in before when it came to my first tattoos, so I thought that I would have to wait like a week or two to get it. I went to Time-Honored Tattoo in Stafford, Virginia and I was immediately greeted by one of the tattoo artists. He took a look at the picture I wanted done and he asked one of the traveling artists, Scott Sketo, if he would like to do the tattoo…THAT DAY. Like within an hour. He said he was up to it and after we decided on the size and how to place the moon, we were ready to get started.
beginningIf there was one thing I did not realize (but definitely appreciated), I had chosen a piece where the lines would like better thinner. I had a good idea of how much pain I would be feeling, but did not anticipate how painful a back piece could be especially with such fine lines. However, Scott did an amazing job. The lines were beyond clean and straight and it added to the piece. This process took a little longer than my previous tattoo, but it was totally worth the time and effort that Scott put into it.
tattoodA lot of people have asked me if the pain was unbearable. Honestly, I think it wasn’t too bad considering the placement. Certain spots where a tad tear-inducing but I am pretty sure it was because I anticipated it. I did find that focusing on something else such as my phone was super helpful and allowed me to hold still during certain spots.
tattood2After he finished the outline, Scott went onto shading and that wasn’t too painful. Anthony had asked what it felt like: It feels like I’m being pinched over and over again and it starts to feel annoying. After the shading was done, we took a quick break to stretch out and take a look thus far. I was so ecstatic! It looked perfect, the shading was spot on and clean, the lines were clean, it was perfection! I didn’t have an OCD moment which is fantastic considering how this is a lifetime commitment I just made.
tattood3After our break, we came back and he went to town on coloring the piece. This was a wee bit painful…the break allowed my skin to rest and was no longer numb so I was really starting to feel that annoying pain again. But, I kept myself busy by keeping my head down to think about anything or I was on my phone. After about 2 or so hours, we were finally finished! I took a look in the mirror and I wanted to cry! This tattoo took me 2 years of contemplating and courage building to get it and it’s finally there and done! The colors were soft and perfect and it just looked too beautiful for words. I am now thinking about getting Prince Endymion on the other side…
thanksHere is the timeline picture! Gosh, too gorgeous!!!! Well, I believe a special thanks is due to Scott Sketo for 1.) taking me as a walk-in, 2.) doing a freakin’ amazingly fantastical job, and 3.) allowing Anthony to take pictures for this post! You were totally great, precise, and your philosophical rants were great to listen to! I had a blast and the pain was totally worth it.

The Awkward Chef: Congee

Hello Hello!
My, what a week it has been! Lots of stuff going on: a new tattoo, allergies, Annandale, and a lot of other things…but mostly dedicating 5-6 hours playing Pokemon. (Whoops!) I will be posting about a lot of these things soon, I promise. But I am going to share with you all a simple recipe that even awkward cooks like me can fix up! It’s definitely nostalgic for me since this was something I ate every time I was at my Chinese friend’s house in California and eating it now brings back lots of memories! Today I’m cooking CONGEE!
congeeSo, this recipe is all over the internet and they are all pretty much the same! This is perfect for sick days, cold days, rainy days, or lazy days and you can add any ingredients you want for toppings.
congee ingredientsSo what I used for this recipe is:
One Cup of Nishiki Rice
10 Cups of Water
One Package of Bumblebee Albacore Lemon Cracked Pepper Tuna
Mt. Olive Bread & Butter Chip Pickles
I chose the ingredients because I’ve been really addicted to sweet pickles and lemon pepper tuna as of late. The combo actually did taste good, but I’ll discuss that later.
congee ingredients 2So, despite how easy this recipe is, it does take an hour or two to prep. Most of it is to ensure the rice has a good consistency when you reached the final stage, but basically the first step is to wash your rice! I used my rice cooker pot for this since it has measurements in it. I just took my cup of rice and poured it in, then I poured water in until it covers the rice. I swished the rice around until the water becomes a milky white, then drained the rice only to repeat the process until the water runs clear.
congee rice cleanOnce the water is clear, go ahead and fill the pot with 6 cups of water and let it sit for about 30 minutes. This helps loosen the rice so the porridge will have the right consistency. After 30 minutes, drain the pot and fill another pot with 10 cups of water.
When making rice porridge, it’s very important to get the right consistency. So if you want a thick consistency, do 1 cup of rice to 8 cups of water. Medium consistency (which is what I did), 1 cup of rice to 10 cups of water. Watery consistency is 1 cup of rice to 12 cups of water. It’s pretty basic.
congee riceAfter filling the pot with water, pour your rice into the pot and turn the heat on high until it comes to a boil. Once that happens, turn the heat down to medium-low and let it simmer for an hour with occasional stirring to ensure the rice doesn’t stick to the bottom. The rice should look like the picture above with the grain split and broken. Once it’s ready, go ahead and prep your bowl with your favorite ingredients!
congee finalTa-da~an! Say Hello to CONGEE! This recipe can actually serve quite a lot, I filled up two containers with the leftovers. Just some food for thought: You can also change the water to broth! I’ve had congee with chicken broth and veggie broth before and they were quite hearty! Also, feel free to use any topping of your choice, from meats to veggies. I personally prefer pickled veggies like bamboo and cabbage with marinated beef.

That is all for today! I hope you all enjoyed it and found it helpful…or delicious. 😉 I have a lot of posts lined up so I think and hope one will be up tomorrow and I am deciding on what it will be on: Tattoo or Annandale? Hmmm, we will see!!

Anyways, if you enjoyed this recipe and have any tips; please feel free to comment down below! I love to read what you all have to say. Also, if you have any ideas or suggestions for future posts; please hit the contact button above! I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week and I shall see you soon.

Recent Purchase: Geeky Goodies

Hello Hello!
It’s Friday!?  This week has gone by pretty fast, I must admit. So much has happened too…ahhhh! Speaking of which, I actually went to the Peelander-Z concert in Richmond yesterday and OH EM GEE. That was a blast. In fact, my brother and I got up on stage and the videos are up on Instagram (@TaylorRae319). Go check them out, yeah? Please.

ANYWAYS, I feel like I haven’t done a “Recent Purchase” post in a while and recently I’ve bought quite a few geeky things with little to no regret. So, I’ll share with you all what I’ve spent my money on.
recent purchaseSo, I will just say that this is kind of a collection of the past few weeks since I haven’t really been in the mood for shopping much lately. I’ve been really looking forward to sharing a few of these with you though, so I waited until I had a good amount for a post. So, what did I buy?
peelanderThis is my new Peelander-Z Raglan Tee in a size Large. Like I said above, last night we made the trip down to Richmond to see Peelander-Z for the first time in 6 years! The last time I saw them live was in 2008…and I feel old again. It was a blast then and it was a blast now, though I had to step aside for most of it because of the stage dives and mosh pit. BUT I WAS ON STAGE! That’s all that matters, right?  Anyways, when I purchased the shirt I was thinking female sizes only to realize after purchasing that it was mens. I still love it though despite the oversize! The monster actually surprised me because Peelander Yellow drew it in 2008 during a Super Art Fight! Loads of fun, ya’ll.
pokemonOH MY GOSH GUYS. I finally got myself to buy it. I persuaded my geeky self to buy Pokemon Y. Why? BECAUSE. The news about the Pokemon Championships in DC and the announcement of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire got me all excited. I’m actually excited to finally see how the new fairy types work and I’m super excited to start utilizing my Pokemon correctly. Once I’ve got a fairly good team, maybe I’ll share my friend code and we can battle or trade? Hmmmmm…
socksI needed new socks…so I bought some.
hello kittyI did buy a Hello Kitty figure from Barnes and Noble! This was 50% off of $9, so only $4.50 sounded like a great deal for me. I’ve actually been eyeing a few Funko POP! figures from the Sanrio, Despicable Me, and Disney collections so this was a pretty neat find and it actually added a pop of necessary color to my new book shelf! I haven’t taken it out of the box either…uhhh.
sailor moonLast but not least is my pride and joy: My Sailor Moon Manga Collection! I’ve had the set of 12 books for a while now, but never thought to purchase the two short stories books until I saw EVERY COLLECTOR WITH THEM. So, I found them and bought them and the feeling of completing a series was so satisfying that I decided to order the Japanese versions with the brand new illustrated covers and I HAVE NOT REGRETTED A THING. I actually ordered the 1st and 2nd volume on JList.Com (JBox.Com for those under 18) for close to $40 each. I was so impressed by the high quality of the artwork, the cover, and even the pages. They are not as flimsy as typical American translated/produced manga. MUCH MUCH BETTER. Definitely worth the amount of money paid for and I can’t wait to have all the books on my shelf!

Well that is it for this quick post! I hope you all enjoyed it and had a little fun with it. If you have any questions on where to purchase any of the items listed or have any suggestions on future purchases, comment down below! If you’d like to suggest future post ideas or reviews, please hit the contact button above! I love reading your comments and emails, you all don’t even know!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend! Stay safe and sound, smile at someone, enjoy your summer. I shall see you all soon and as always…

REMEMBER: Happy Mommy Day to The Mothers of The World! 🙂
