Current Favorites + December 2016 +

Hello Everyone & Happy 2017!

I’m sorry I didn’t do the “annual” new years post this year…I had sincerely thought about it but I just couldn’t get into the spirit of it. 2016 was a difficult year for me and although I tried not to let it get in the way of me blogging and filming, it did decrease my motivation substantially for a good portion of the year. But I feel that this year I will try to take better care of myself in terms of physical and mental health. But I do want to say; thank you guys so so much for spending 2016 with Simply Taylor Rae. 2017 marks my 5th year of blogging and I’m not too sure whether to celebrate or just spend the year finding my “identity” and keeping it calm. Either way; you guys ultimately kept me going and I appreciate everything you do. Thank you.

Anyways, here’s to the first post of 2017 and the many more that will follow!

title

December was a really weird month for favorites; I kind of started changing my thinking and taste in many things but I still hope you all enjoy the post. By the way, please enjoy looking at my incredibly nosy doge who likes to bust in when I take pictures.

+ POKEMON SUN & MOON +
pokemon

Ya’ll know I was excited for this release and it was worth the wait entirely. Pokemon Sun and Moon have really brought about a well needed change to the franchise; instead of gyms, there are trials where you get Z-crystals rather badges. Many cute Pokemon have been introduced as well…but shiny hunting has become a pain in my butt I tell you what. Overall though, I really really loved this game and although it took me a wee bit to finish it; so so worth.

+ADIDAS SHOES+
blargh

During our trip to California, Anthony bought me a pair of new Adidas shoes for our anniversary and I love them. They are quite comfortable to walk in and are cute for many occasions including Disney Land. We got these for a pretty good price I believe and I’d definitely suggest them. They’re quite aesthetic in my honest opinion.

+DISNEY JIM SHORE FIGURINES+
disney

This is kind of what began my taste change…I had originally received the Minnie figurine from a very kind coworker and I adored it. So much to the point where I bought the Marie one because I just felt the need to buy another one. They are so cute and the small ones aren’t too expensive from the Hallmark store. I’m hoping once I get another shelf from IKEA, I can go and get a bigger figurine or two.

+MY BED+
bed

And finally, we come to the staple of my favorites. My bed. This seems so freakin’ depressing but I have literally felt a need to stay in bed a lot more lately. I know it’s probably part of my anxiety turning into a mild depression, but it has become kind of like a safe zone for me. I want to edit in my bed, I want to watch movies…IN MY BED. I want to play my video games from the comfort of my warm bed. And my dog only wants to love me and stay for cuddles on my bed. But yes…it’s sad, but my bed is possibly the number one thing on this list. *le sigh*

And that is it for today’s post! If you have anything you’ve enjoyed during December or have any suggestions on how to celebrate 5 years with Simply Taylor Rae; please let me know in the comments down below. I hope you guys had a wonderful and safe new years and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week. ❤

Current Faves +August 2016+

Hello all!

I missed doing current favorites posts…actually, I miss posting in general. I’ve been going through a hefty writer’s block hence why I’ve been working on YouTube videos rather than writing. (。•́︿•̀。) However, I felt that this month had some lovely favorites that I wanted to share with you as we relax together during this Labor Day weekend.

current-faves-title

+ Diamond/Micro/Nano Blocks +

current-faves-blocks

In case you haven’t checked out the YouTube channel; I’ve really gotten into nano blocks…or was it diamond blocks…so many different names for tiny legos! Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑) I normally purchase mine at a local Korean shop in Annandale, but they do carry a few brands at Barnes and Noble. They’ve become rather theraputic for me and my anxiety but these can get a tad expensive depending on the brand. In terms of completing a build; it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, but I normally try and have snacks and tea on hand.

+ Exit Tunes presents EDM3 +

current-faves-edm3

This freakin’ album is the epitome of #3Hype5Me. Earlier this year, I purchased the first EDM compilation album from Exit Tunes and I adored it. So when the cross fade for the third installment was released, I immediately went ahead and ordered it and I was far from disappointed. As of today, my favorite tracks from the album are “Satallite” and “ARTIFICIAL SKIN.” It may not be great music for relaxing but it does help me wake up in the morning on my way to work and keeps me sane during traffic hours.

+ Alex and Ani Bracelets +

current-faves-bracelets

There are two people to blame for my recent addiction to Alex and Ani; thanks Alex and Katie. I cannot tell you how this happened but I remember being so flipping excited to buy the Jellyfish bracelet from their “Under the Sea” charity collection…and the feeling is still the same when I buy another. My latest bracelet is the Unicorn charity bracelet and holy crap, it is too precious for words. I love the look of each one and the idea of revealing bits and pieces of my personality to people via each bracelet. The unfortunate part is that they are a tad expensive so collecting all of the ones I set my sights on will be rather difficult, but I’m in no rush.

+ Starbucks “You are Here” Mugs +

current-faves-mug

If you’re unaware, I thoroughly enjoy traveling. I love the process of leaving my home to go somewhere brand new and different. I have been noticing that I have a ridiculous addiction to Starbucks so if we go anywhere…I like to make sure there is a Starbucks nearby so I can get a latte or refresher when necessary. When we were in New York for Miku Expo, I thought…WHY NOT BUY A FRIGGIN’ STARBUCKS MUG AS A SOUVENIR RATHER THAN SOMETHING LOGICAL. And now here I am because I adore these mugs. I love the artwork and I love how large they are and to be honest, they’re only $13 which is not bad at all for a souvenir in NYC or other places.

That’s a wrap for my August favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed and if you have any questions or comments about any of the items on today’s post, please feel free to drop a comment down below and I will reply as soon as I am able to. As always, have a fantastic week and I will see you all next time~!

Recent Purchase: Miku Expo & NYC Haul

Howdy and Hello!

I don’t know why but I somehow keep mistaking today as June 1st but it’s the 31st and I am so confused…

Anyways; I originally planned for this post to be a video but while editing I noticed that my camera didn’t focus properly and the slight blur actually hurts my eyes so I’m going to work on that and see how to better it for future reference.

Therefore, here’s a recent purchase post featuring all the lovely items I purchased during our trip to NYC and Miku Expo! ❤

recent purchase title

A heads up; I did purchase a few more items than that shown today but they were purchased for other people so I don’t feel it necessary to share those items. I also had a budget so I didn’t buy as much stuff due to having participated in the PledgeMusic Campaign and the such. With that said, LET’S GET STARTED!

recent purchase tote

First up is the Miku Expo Illustration Tote. While I’m not the biggest fan of the illustration, the tote itself is rather cute. I wasn’t intending on purchasing this item but after I had two shirts and other goods in my hand and nowhere to put them…I ended up buying the tote for $15 and it actually held strong through the night. It’s pretty roomy so I will more than likely use it again for like an overnight stay or something. I also ended up decorating it with a teal bow I purchased at Claire’s a while back…it fits really well.(๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)

recent purchase pouch

This was an intentional purchase. I have a weird obsession with small pouches but since I wasn’t planning on spending $50 on a backpack with the same pattern, I’d go ahead with the tiny pouch and use it for smalls like makeup or something. The quality isn’t too bad to be honest and the print is growing on me the more I stare at it. I also like how the logo is sewn onto the pouch also…it adds a slight touch of class.

recent purchase shirt

HERE’S MY FAVORITE PURCHASE FROM THE CONCERT. Okay, my original goal wasn’t to buy a shirt since I already had the shirt from the PledgeMusic Campaign…but LOOK AT THAT ARTWORK. I love it and Anamanaguchi was phenomenal opening and closing the concert. The shirt sizes are unisex and I normally fall between a small and a medium depending on how I want the shirt to fit. I wanted it to fit snug so I bought a small and it fits perfectly and comfortably. The shirt quality is actually quite nice and as I said; the artwork is gorgeous to me. So worth the money spent.

recent purchase vip

And now…may I introduce you the extremely teal Miku Expo VIP Package?! I actually enjoyed this year’s package whereas some people thought it was a bit cheap. The bag is definitely smaller but overall a better quality. Inside was the Miku Expo VIP Badge and Lanyard which are A LOT better than the VIP badges from 2014 and we actually got them before the concert which was nice. You also get a set of stickers which I don’t know if I’m even going to use because…I’m scared to ruin them. (。ŏ﹏ŏ) AND TO TOP EVERYTHING OFF…you get a Modify Watch x Miku Expo watch in what I am assuming is a VIP exclusive color. I know these were available during the PledgeMusic Campaign but I don’t recall the band color being available but please let me know in the comments below if I am wrong! I really love this watch though; it’s so comfortable and looks quite nice on my wrist. It’s not a tight fit at all.

recent purchase mug

Moving on from Miku Expo; I wanted something to remember New York by since I didn’t get myself a souvenir back in2014. I really love the designs Starbucks uses for their You Are Here Collection so I went ahead and purchased their New York mug design and I love it. It wasn’t too expensive either at $11. I’m debating on whether to use it or store it as decoration…THE INTERNAL STRUGGLE IS REAL.

recent purchase miku box

And of course I bought more Miku products. The morning after Miku Expo, we explored NYC and ventured into a game store called J & L Game where they add so many video games and accessories. It was heaven. I ended up finding a Hatsune Miku Project Mirai 2 Accessory Set for only $40 which isn’t awful. It comes with decal stickers, 3DS cases, a carrying pouch for your 3DS and a carrying pouch for your petit Nendroid if you own one. It’s rather cute and I couldn’t resist buying it…one more thing to add to my Miku Collection.

Aaaaand that’s a wrap. I didn’t buy too much and that’s probably a good thing for my bank account. But I hope you enjoyed today’s post! Let me know if you went to Miku Expo and purchased anything! I’m interested to hear about your experiences and thoughts! Anyways, I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week and I’ll see you next time!

Current Faves +April 2016+

You guys.

This sudden burst of motivation…WHERE DID IT COME FROM? Oh yeah, I actually feel like being a productive adult today.

Anyways, today I thought it’s been a while since we’ve done a Current Faves post so ta-da~. ౧(*മ് ധമ്)੭ु⁾⁾

current faves title

I realized it’s been a couple of months since I did one of these and it wasn’t because of motivation. I just felt like I didn’t have anything really worth posting for this type of post, so I left it for a bit until I found some things that were different. AND I DID. Thank goodness. ( ಠωಠ)

MUSIC

current faves music

I’ve been a really weird music kick lately, and by that I mean…it’s not necessarily what I normally consider relaxing. But there’s one album that I’m constantly turning back to when I have a long playlist going. Say hello to “TOMOSUKE x Jazzin’park presents LANA.” This is album is a great story telling piece and there’s something about the vocals that keeps my nerves down and gets me in the mindset for work or being productive. My favorite songs on this album are actually remixes, but they’re on the album so it counts: 「キロクノカケラ (sasakure.UK Framework Remix)」and 「ヒトリノウタ (Hurt inside Remix)」. Honestly, I think the reason I fell in love with these remixes were because they were produced by well-known Vocaloid producers…“φʕ•ᴥ•oʔ

BOOK

current faves book

This was a rather spring of the moment purchase…but I had the 2nd Graphics book but not the first. So this was necessary. ԅ(≖‿≖ԅ) This is the Hatsune Miku Graphics 1 book and I bought it at a Books A Million up north and it was such a blessed purchase. I love a lot of the artists in these graphic books so it’s awesome to see some of their previous work and unreleased work within these graphics books. It was a bit expensive though at $35 but I love Miku and I feel no shame from this.

GAMES

current faves game

You know how there are those few games that bring out the worst in you? Sailor Moon Drops is definitely one of them and it brings out the absolute worst in me because at the end of my five freakin’ hearts, I want to throw my phone at every wall and window in the area. It’s a lot like Bejeweled except you have quests inside the puzzle. So not only are you trying to get a super awesome score, but you also have a certain amount of moves you can make and you gotta do other things on top of getting a high score. I am terrible at this game, but it’s so addictive and it’s Sailor Moon so you already know it’s staying on the phone. It takes me at least a day or two to get through a stage…ugh. #TaylorSucksAtSMD

FASHION

current faves fashion

This is another random purchase from this past weekend. I wasn’t planning on buying a new bag, but I love LeSportsac because of the materials they use for their bags and they typically have really lovely prints such as this one. Unfortunately I cannot find the name for this specific print, BUT IF YOU DO KNOW; leave a comment down below! I’d love to know this print name. But anyways, I got it for a pretty big steal over at Marshall’s and what was once a $46 bag was $17 and I just couldn’t resist buying it. The smile on my face was creepy but I mean…cats #AmIRight?

AHAHAHAHA, that’s the end for this post ladies and maybe gents? I hope you enjoyed this easy going post and if you have any suggestions for the topics listed, go ahead and let me know in the comment section! And while you’re at it; if you actually liked this post then click the like button as well because you’re awesome. I hope you all have a magnificent rest of your week and until next time. BAI BAI.

Current Faves +January 2016+

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I’m sorry this post is rather late for a monthly favorite series. It’s been a bit busy here but I’m trying!! ( ˃̶͈ ̯ ̜ ˂̶͈ˊ ) ︠³

Anyways, this month I really focused on things that are calming and help me relax. So, it’s nothing too crazy but I really wanted to share these things with you in case anyone is looking for something to help them relax!

current faves

In terms of fashion, music, and books; these items are really incredibly helpful for me with combating my anxiety a bit. Although different things help different people, I highly recommend all of the items in this post! ヾ(・∀・*)

MUSIC

music

I have been so addicted to Akdong Musician lately. There’s something so calming and uplifting with their music that I have found myself listening to it at work in the car if I feel that I’m on the verge of a panic or anxiety attack. They’ve only released one album called “Play” but it’s so wonderful, I highly suggest it. My favorite tracks are “Artificial Grass” and “Melted.” They also released a powerful ballad as an online single called “Time and Fallen Leaves.” This song leaves me in tears every time, but it’s also relaxing. The feels guys, the feels. ꒰๑•̥﹏•̥๑꒱

BOOK

book

I’ve had a lot of free time at work so I’ve been doing a lot of reading and found myself buying Marie Kondo’s newest book, “Spark Joy” to help with the clutter in my room which (hopefully) will help with my anxiety and kind of get me in the right mind set in terms of life and spending money among other things. The book is really simple in terms of instructions and doesn’t shame your clutter habits, but rather helps you determine which items spark joy in your life and which items aren’t. Plus, the illustrations are really cute.

GAMES

GAMES

I don’t know how or why, but I downloaded Love Live! School Idol Festival one night and I haven’t stopped playing since. The app is available on iOS systems and it’s really just…an otaku’s dream. I love the music and game play, it’s hard but the music makes me enjoy the challenge. It’s a tad difficult to rank up, but I love collecting the cards and MAKI IS ULTIMATE BAE YOU GUYS. This doesn’t really help with my anxiety, but it’s an overall fun game that I’d totally suggest for people with an iPad.

FASHION

 Fashion

I’ve been buying new work clothes here and there to build up my wardrobe and one of my favorite pieces is this Merona Tunic from Target. It’s an olive green with elephants printed through the top. It’s so comfortable and light, and the color is relaxing to me. I looks cute casual with brown boots, or with black slacks and flats. It wasn’t too pricey either! I love pairing it with long necklaces too. ヾ(´▽`;)ゝ
